We do not always admire everything we appreciate, however, sharing in our appreciation for one another is one of the fastest ways to build positive rapport in your relationship.
To do this, you will need to forgo keeping score when sharing appreciation.
Couples often get stuck in the imaginary game of keeping tabs on the generous things they do or say, compared to what they notice their partner saying or doing.
This is a losing game and its being played all wrong.
Every partner in a relationship has something that they find bothersome about their significant other. This is simply the difference in our personalities and does not define a person as right, wrong, good, or bad
Find what you appreciate about your partner, even in those things that may be an annoyance to you.
Maybe you’re bothered by how much your partner talks to strangers all the time, but you appreciate their confidence in being able to express themselves so openly with anyone they meet and the joy they exude when they share.
Maybe you dislike that your partner leaves tools around the house, but you can appreciate the passion and work they put into your home to make it how you want.
Make a list of what you can appreciate about your partner, including the things you may find bothersome. Share these appreciations with your partner today!
