Individual therapy, also known as counseling, focuses on the development of new skills and improved coping strategies to better manage moods and emotions, change behavior patterns, and address difficulties in relationships. The goal of this form of therapy is to develop a relationship between therapist and client that will inspire the change needed to improve a person’s quality of life, allowing him or her to feel more positivity in life, increasing self-esteem and becoming more self-aware.
All individual therapy starts with a diagnostic assessment to identify any potential mental health diagnosis, current stressors, personal strengths, and the client’s goals for treatment. Together, the therapist and client develop an individualized treatment plan. If needed, our therapists will coordinate with your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist in cases where medication is needed.
