Hello, my name is Michelle Bridgewater , and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I received my education at Kent State University. I believe that everyone deserves support during the difficult and stressful moments that naturally arise throughout life’s journey.
Counseling does not need to feel intimidating—at its core, it is a collaborative process between two people working together to uncover the tools, resources, and skills that foster confidence, empowerment, and personal growth.
I have a strong passion for working with youth and have provided intensive outpatient services, school-based counseling (from elementary through high school), and office-based therapy. I also enjoy supporting individuals across the lifespan, from ages 6 to 100. In addition to my work with youth, I have experience providing outpatient services to adults as well as working in an intensive substance use treatment facility.
I believe each person is the expert of their own life. My role as a therapist is not to tell someone what to do, but to guide and support them as they navigate challenges and discover what is best for their unique path. My goal is to help individuals recognize and build upon their strengths, develop new skills, and leave therapy feeling more confident, empowered, and capable.
I have experience working with concerns related to attention and concentration (including ADHD), anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and grief stemming from various life events, including relationship changes or the loss of a loved one.
Grounded in my education and diverse clinical experience, I take an eclectic approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
