Mary Mahoney


Mary Mahoney is a clinical social worker practicing psychotherapy since 1988. She is experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, group, couples/ marital and family therapies.

Mary’s general treatment repertoire includes diagnosing and treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, women’s issues, interpersonal/relationship problems, and behavioral and social concerns specifically affecting children and adolescents. She also conducts assessments for bariatric surgery and assists people who are struggling with weight problems in understanding the relationship between food and emotions. Skills for coping with emotions and making lifestyle changes to overcome weight problems are part of treatment.

Mary has extensive training and experience in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal (relationship based) Therapy, Marital Therapy, and Family Therapy.

Mary believes that success in helping people achieve their personal goals and goals for recovery comes from treating the “Whole Person”, using a biological, psychological, and social perspective.

Mary enjoys travel in general, but especially to spend time with her son, daughter-in-law and grand-cat in Seattle. She has deep respect for nature and all living things.
